Soil health for urban trees

An urban soil has much understudied ecosystem services such as water retention and carbon storage. But a good soil, meaning the natural processes are unobstructured, is the base for a healthy urban tree. Because a soil consists of a chemical, physical and biological component, an assessment must seek to find easy-to-asses (bio)indicators for healthy soils such as earthworms, tea bags and soil respiration to name a few. Further we want to describe in this research what the status of urban soil health in cities and along roads is and how we can improve it.
