Soil compaction in urban soils

Soil compaction destroys the soil structure by squeezing the air and water out out of the soil. This often occurs while working with excessively heavy machinery and/or carrying out work in excessively wet conditions. Problems that still arises too often in the green sector, especially in new construction projects or renovation. This causes, among other things, less gas exchange and less water infiltration, resulting in poor plant growth. In this research we want to find out how big the soil compaction problem is in disturbed soils such as tree pits, parks and gardens.
